Situated in a landscape unchanged for more than two centuries, Henley Cottage, sleeping up to five, is an authentic former farm labourer’s dwelling that has been carefully restored to reinstate its 19th century vernacular. It now provides a simple and homely atmosphere and promises a real escape from modern day living.
Upon arrival, holiday guests will be provided with instructions on how to use all its domestic bygones. These include a Victorian coal fired kitchen range for cooking, a larder for storing food, oil lamps for illumination, hand pump for drawing water from the well, laundry room complete with coal fired copper and mangle and a tin bath for fireside bathing. A traditional vegetable and herb garden completes the picture of simple 19th century rural living.
For those that can not do without, there is a modern shower and W.C. with running hot water and heated towel rail, cleverly hidden in a former garden closet.
