3 Day Painting Retreat

Join expert local artist Vicki Norman for three days of exclusive access to the incredibly beautiful house and grounds of Acton Scott Hall, and Acton Scott Historic Working Farm in rural Shropshire. Paint the vibrant colours of early summer, surrounded by birdsong and rolling countryside, and take advantage of a rare opportunity to visit and paint the characterful Elizabethan home of the Acton family. You will be spoilt for choice of subject with stunning architectural features, delightful gardens, a summerhouse, church and woodland walks. Take your time and unwind amongst the ancient trees and broad Shropshire vistas as you spend a full three days painting the picturesque surroundings.

Develop your painting skills with plenty of practical painting time and lots of helpful advice and guidance from Vicki who will be on hand all day to support your learning. Painters in all media and of all skill levels are welcome! (Complete beginners should take some time in advance to familiarise themselves with the practice of painting en plein air and the equipment required.)

Your fee includes 3 days of exclusive access to the beautiful private gardens and grounds of Acton Scott Hall including parts of the house suitable for hosting painters. We are also now delighted to offer full access to the adjacent Working Victorian Farm with rare breed cattle, chickens and a wealth of period farm equipment and buildings. There is certainly no shortage or inspiration here!

Morning coffee and afternoon tea with cake are included alongside comprehensive tuition and support in painting en plein air with a different themed demonstration each day to inspire you.

For a real treat you can opt for our all-inclusive accommodation offer of £297.50 includes two nights in one of Acton Scott Hall’s three beautiful en-suite bedrooms with delicious breakfasts served at the 16th centiry refrectory table, packed lunches and a two course dinner and wine with the Actons and Vicki. The first evening is usually a pub supper with the other artists.

Staying at the Hall offers an exclusive insight into some of the private sketches, paintings and fascinating family artefacts. You may be invited to play Victorian parlour games or explore hidden corners of the house. A quiet time reflecting on your day is an option too as you have exclusive access to the gardens and grounds. Please contact us to arrange your stay.
